These are a few illustrations made for this “Science Bedtime Story” about the Rising Star Cave in South Africa. It’s an ongoing expedition through a perilous cave system, for the purpose of excavating ancient hominid skeleton remains. Some of the cave passages are so narrow, only a team of small-framed female scientists were able to make it all the way through to retrieve the specimens. The undertaking to retrieve these fascinating bones is a true adventure! I enjoyed learning more about it.
