Recently went to Lexington, Kentucky for the 5th time for a very quick and impromptu vacation with my mom. We had been planning to go in January (and still are) but the opportunity came up to visit Stonestreet and see Rachel Alexandra so we took it and it was so worth it! 

We went to Old Friends, which included a few horses I never thought I’d meet - Silver Charm and War Emblem. We also got to see Alphabet Soup and Touch Gold, who I saw in 2005 the first time I went to Kentucky. 

Going to the Horse park was bittersweet. It was the first time I ever went when Cigar wasn’t there. Four times in the past I had stood at that fence and watched him and now instead of CIgar there’s a big monument and statue. It was the only time on the trip I cried. Cigar is what got me into racing and was the reason I ever wanted to visit Lexington as a teenager. 

I got to meet Street Sense and Orb, two kentucky derby winners. And the great Rachel Alexandra, who luckily due to rain was inside and I got to pet her and see her up close. She is absolutely stunning. 

Such an amazing trip and experience, this was the first time we ever toured any mare and foal barns and it was so cool. Can’t wait to go again
