To actually answer your question though, I almost always animate in Flash, and if you are thinking about getting into animation then YOU SHOULD TOTALLY DO THAT! Animation is hella rewarding, but the biggest obstacle is convincing yourself that you can do it, which you totally can, by the way! There’s a few free animation tools floating around out there, like Pencil.

I’ll be honest, I certainly do not think I am in any kind of position to be teaching anybody how to animate! I usually just draw scribbles until Flash breaks and don’t really have a sophisticated process for anything… You’d be better off asking a professional like k7vin about such things! And of course there are buckets of helpful tutorials on the web to help you get started, like myah, myah, and myah!
