squorkal:
I love Huey’s reaction here. I’m pretty sure his words were not only for Webby but for himself. He knows she’s about to do something crazy and he’s starting to feel himself panic so he tells both Webby and himself, “Nope (no need to panic). You’re fine (you got this).”
I loved it too! And you explained it quite well here. I get the feeling a lot of Huey’s more potentially disrupting emotions he keeps internal (like that famous duck temper >:3) And things like panic and fear will also be just barely kept in check if at all possible.
And I love love love it!! Because it opens it up to him being the repressed authority, the calm one by default. Something the writers can play for laughs and for serious moments.
He gives his awkward two-cents, that hint to his true less dignified feelings, in moments where just barely relevant. And it’s hilarious.
See: “I still see the darts when I close my eyes...”
Frustrated, Huey? *cue internal screaming*
But there’s room for a habit like this to become a problem…
