We knew the Johnsons were up to something, all those vans going back and forth at all hours of the night. Curiosity got the better of us and so me and my sister decided to do some snooping around.

A van parked, engine idling, the side door wide open. I had to chance it. I popped open a cardboard box and found a fur coat inside.

“Hey kid !!” cried a voice behind me and I took off running. We laid low for a long time, pretending nothing was wrong. But Mr. Johnson seemed to be everywhere we went. Around every corner we’d see him watching and grinning at us. He even tried to get us to come over and babysit his kids.

Then one night it happened. A month later, with Mom and Dad out of the house for the night,  Mr & Mrs. Johnson turned up at our doorstep. No pretexts. No games. We tried to run but they caught us, tied us up and gagged us tight with yards duct tape they brought along.

“Darn, we kinda liked it here. all those nice big houses to rob.” Mrs. Johnson said,“ But by the time you two get out of here, we’ll have emptied the house and moved onto another town and no one will believe your story anyway.”

After disabling the phones, they shut us up in our bedroom and rigged the door so it couldn’t be opened from inside. Now its just me and Lizzie hopelessly trapped and struggling to get loose…
