I found this little study I did sitting in my mom’s garden to be so thought-provoking; the experience of meditating on the everyday stuff she uses to sustain the birds and flowers - her red bucket of seed, the broken pots full of rainwater, a few trowels and things - felt so personal and related to her ongoing giving and love to me as well as to the living things around her home.

Suddenly this mundane clutter felt like not just her giving, but the giving of all women. Accompanied by a little sketch of her knitting - an art that, through focused meditation, brings warmth to another.
