Last night I got to hang out with the authors of these extraordinary works (among many more fine humans), AND heard two read from them! (Land also read from a follow-up essay to her memoir.) I am OVER THE MOON and also grateful I can exchange chunks of my “library sale hoard” at my beloved @powellsbooks for new ones, thereby supporting both established and emerging #authors when otherwise, on my budget, I truly could not.* Soooo Hell Yeah #AWP19 for bringing the kick-ass out-of-towners, @stepville and @ksundber (authors of Maid and Goodbye, Sweet Girl, respectively) to #PDX, and to @lidiamiles and @monicadrake33, for keeping it so very real here. Oh! And to @cafemama for (1) 11+ years of friendship, online and, since 2013, IRL, and (2) for the last-second inspiration to head to last night’s off-site (and free!) #AWP event at @corporealwriting, since I was by then too overwhelmed to sift among the umpteen simultaneous events. GOD how I treasure the ongoing gift that is this #writingcommunity. ✍️ __
* So by extension, Hell Yeah those of you who support your local #libraries, through book donations and otherwise. (Heads up: @multnomahcountylibrary’s Spring sale is soon. That’s like a religious holiday for me, y'all! Squeeeeee!!!)
