Sarah Haider of @exmuslimsofna remarks @Apostacon that there is little visibility of the suffering of those within the Muslim religion. Especially in the U.S., many Muslims considering leaving their religion may take in consideration the fact that they don’t want to perpetuate the misconceptions of their cultural background. Critique of Islam doesn’t usually distinguish between race and religion.

This puts Ex-Muslims in a particularly narrow space between discrimination based on their race, and persecution for leaving their religion.

As Ex-Mormons I hope that we can help change this volatile environment by fighting against bigotry and promoting civil liberties.
