Forty two years ago, on September 2nd 1973, the author of The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion, professor J.R.R. Tolkien boarded the ship at the Grey Havens and sailed across the Great Sea of Belegaer towards the Blessed Realm of Aman. Ever since have the mountains of Pelori echoed with the sounds of laughter, joy, tale and song. We who still dwell in Middle Earth must turn our gaze to his works, seeking courage, hope and light when all other lights go out.
