Imagine, briefly, if you will, that the purpose of your human existence is hinged on experiential diversity. Numerous cultures, religions, and philosophies refer to the belief of a “singularity”, “oneness”, or “omnipresence” that paradoxically pervades and evades our physical reality; zealots may call it God, while physicists call it Superstring Theory. Regardless of name, these ideas suggest that we are somehow separate from such a unity of consciousness while still existing in it. Our divergence from absolute oneness inherently shows our desire to explore the concept of “differentness.” If we liked everything always being the same, then why did we split from it? Like the zeros and ones that compose the binary dance of a computer, our consciousness aims to explore the interplay between difference and sameness. By coming to this planet as a human being, (remember, this is all just a thought experiment) you have subconsciously chosen to participate in a divergence from everything else because you wanted to check it out and see what separateness had to offer. And it’s pretty cool; there’s billions of plants and insects and people and ideas and everybody is bumping into everything else and it’s absolute beautiful chaos. There are people out there that have forgotten the beautiful chaos of diversity, those that armor themselves with bullets and regurgitate fear. We need not discredit their differences and humiliate their incarnations, yet rather do our best to remind them of the dance of zeros and ones, and that it doesn’t need to be taken so seriously. No bullet will bring you back to the unity you fear losing.
