One of the first South Asian women to complete a university degree, Kadambini was the second South Asian female physician, graduating the same year as Anandi Gopal Joshi.
Kadambini caught the notice of Florence Nightingale who wrote to a friend:
In addition to her work as a physician, Kadambini worked to further the rights of women and the working classes with her politician husband Dwarkanath Ganguly.
