Live Aid was charity event that took place simultaneously in the UK and the USA. Organised by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for the ongoing Ethiopian famine, the concerts were billed as the global jukebox and they were attended by over 170,000 people in London and Philadelphia, as well as inspiring similar concerts around the world. Live Aid had an estimated television audience of 1.9 billion across 150 nations, nearly 40% of the worlds population at the time.
