Hi, my name is Piyo, an art student at a high school of the arts. I’m posting this to apologize to those who are the victims of the punishment incident back in the summer of 2013. 

I was a sophomore and a departmental representative back in 2013, and I gave freshmen of the department punishments. I would like to, once again, apologize for carrying it on even though it was something that should’ve not done, and also physically and psychologically traumatizing the victims. I’m really sorry.

The reasons for giving such punishments were: We heard Seniors mentioning Freshmen’s courteousness, for they were not happy with it, and we also heard that all Freshmen were talking ill of us. If we did take our time to figure out what they have been saying and tried to approach the matter carefully, all of these would’ve never happened, but instead, I gave them punishments and verbally abused them. I’m really, really sorry.

We punished Freshmen to learn more about what they have been saying about us, and as we decided to do so, we called all Freshmen to the dorm to have a talk. And as this went on, I lost patience and gave them punishments and verbally abused them. I made all of them do the “folders” for 1 hour and 30 minutes. And the audio files posted online are from that day.

I do regret for doing this and I would really like to apologize to the victims. I will always keep this in mind and take time to look back on myself.

After the incident, the school had contacted all of our parents (the perpetrators’ and the victims’) and had a talk about this. I apologized to the victims and also my seniors for doing such things. I also did apologize to the parents, and I’m really sorry if my words did not sound sincere enough. I would like to apologize to all of you who were involved, for causing so much trouble due to my impudent behavior.

I did not have any contact with the victims after this, and the incident was the first and only time we gathered and met. Then I was suspended from school and also from my dorm (for several months). Even though I was penalized for such action and did apologize the victims, I should’ve been more aware about the fact that the scars do not heal that easily, and I’m sorry for not being so thoughtful and not apologizing to the victims in advance.

Right now, I’m contacting the victims one by one, and even if it would be hard for them to forgive me, I want them to at least hear my words of apology. I’m so sorry.

I never hit the victims nor belittled their art. I never took money from the victims, nor threatened them.

I know you are upset but please stop spreading rumors.

Again, I would like to apologize to the victims, and I do regret what I’ve done in the past. And I will do my best to compensate the victims. I will have time to look back on myself and I would like to say sorry to the victims, once again.

To me, this is just full of excuses. After this text was posted on Piyo’s blog, many victims started to testify again and said that all of these are not true.
