‘The big twist to this version of the Teen Titans is that they won’t be sidekicks - and in fact, “in this world, adult superheroes don’t exist yet. There is no such thing as a sidekick.” Lemire said that choosing the team was “one of the hardest things to decide,” but ultimately went with a roster of Cyborg, Changeling (aka Beast Boy), Starfire, Raven, and Jericho. While he didn’t mention her as on the roster in the interview, Terra is very clearly on the cover DC Comics released, as well.

While he didn’t talk much about the story with those characters, he did hint that Starfire has “a lot of mystery all around her” that is central to the book, and that Raven is also “key to the plot.” Jericho, perhaps the most surprising member, will have the link to his father.

”Jericho has always been someone that I really liked in the Wolfman/Pérez stuff. His power set is really cool, and I loved his link to Deathstroke – we’ll just leave that as a hint,” the writer teased. “Will we see [Deathstroke]? Yes. Is he the archenemy? You’ll have to wait and see. He’s different in this world, but he’s there. It’s not the Slade Wilson you’re used to. He has different motivations than the DCU’s version of the character – completely different. Where he goes may actually be the most surprising.”

Lemire also teased that he has a planned trilogy for the story, and hopes to be approved to do the second and third volume provided the first is successful.’
