physically he’d stay still, but his soul would go downstream, for it is written “the Spirit of God moved over the surface of the waters.” (Genesis 1:2)

at no point is it said that Jesus could stand still on water, only that He walks. From this we can deduce that Jesus’ soul, which is the Spirit of God, is what allows Him this power, and should He stop following the Spirit, His body would also sink.
