Finishing up the Ordinal Scalehalf-jacket.

This was simply the most tedious part of the whole costume. I had to make at least 5 passes to finish the trim.
1) Basted the shell and lining together around the opening of the jacket and sleeves
2) Made double-sided bias tape, 0.75″ wide for the bodice and 1.75″ for the sleeves, sewed them on one side; around 145″ of bias tape was made
3) Sewed, clipped, and notched the corners and bends into the bias tape
4) Stitched in the ditch to attach the other side of the bias tape
5) Stitched a black line down the middle of all of the white bias tape

The bias tape trim was made from heavy matte satin for the sheen and thickness.

The jacket opens in the front by hook & eyes. It’s not finished until snaps are added to the underside to hold the jacket to the dress and the gold disk accessories are attached to the front and back.

Everything done for the Ordinal Scale jacket shell was replicated from the lining.

The lining is Bemberg Ambiance left over from Eva-Beatrice (2010). I’m glad most of the wrinkles from 7 years of storage, 2 boxes, and a move ironed out.

Getting the shell of the Ordinal Scale jacket together~

The top halves of the sleeves are puff sleeves measuring 6.125″ tall. The bottom halves are bell sleeves at 16.625″ long. The puff sleeves were also gathered for around 1.5″ at the top. I ended up making the diagonal openings on the sleeve sides steeper in the final draft.
