jane fonda got arrested the third week in a row at climate change protests. this time with ted danson

Legends only

For everyone complaining about how these two can get arrested and it won’t affect their careers, you’re right. It most likely won’t hurt their careers. That’s why they keep going out and doing it. They’re using their platform to their advantage. They’re both white, of an older generation, and famous enough to be recognized. They’re holding their generation accountable and making an effort to show up and enforce change. This isn’t them advertising a TV show or some bs, they’re there to help

Imagine being so fucking stupid that you don’t understand that is the literal point.

I also love that Ted Danson looks like he’s in character as Michael from The Good place, truly delighted to experience the human event of getting arrested.

A lot of people think that Ted Danson is a johnny-come-lately to environmentalism, except that he’s been in the game since his Cheers days. When his co-star Nick Colsanto (he played Coach in the early seasons) died, Danson become involved with “Save the Bay” in Rhode Island as a tribute to his friend and co-star. (The “Bay” in question was Narragansett Bay). From there, he got involved with “Save the Oceans,” which eventually became “Oceana” where he serves on the board of directors.

I remember seeing “Save the Bay” advertisements all over the Boston stations when I was kid where he was the front-and-center face in those ads. Danson isn’t beloved in this corner of New England just because of Sam Mallone, y’know. He put in the work, on the local level.

I mean, this was a guy who was born in raised in Arizona, not near any ocean, and he’s been involved with ocean environmentalism since at least the ‘80s. Hell, he was involved with a television series about ocean environmentalism in 1991 and wrote a book about ocean environmentalism in 20011.

In short, Ted’s been an activist in this field since fooooooooreeeeevvvvvaaaaaaar. And he knows his shit.

I just wanted to throw that out there because it’s been driving me crazy that no one has brought this up.
