This week we’re talking about fusions, but with a twist.  We’re going to play a sort of game in which we “cast” Jim and Blair and the other TS characters in various universes and figure out who they would be in that universe.  It’s sort of like casting a play or a show – for example, if you were going to cast “Grease” from the TS universe, who would Jim play?  Blair?  Simon?

We’ll have concrit the second Saturday in June, and the prompt is “In many ways, this had been the beginning of the end” – incorporate that any way you see fit! Pieces should be 600 words or less, and we’ll have more information about how and where to upload them in coming weeks.

See you there…

It’s a fifth Saturday, so it’s time for Pimp Your Fandom.  What you have watched recently that’s got the fandom juices flowing, and why is it Our Flag Means Death?  But seriously, come and tell us what new thing you’re excited about and why TS fans will like it.

The second Saturday in May, we’ll be reading Lady Ra’s The Wish for fic club.  You can find it here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/797188?hide_banner=true

Our topic this week is who is your favorite villain in TS and why?  Who are the people we love to hate?  Whether they were repeat guest stars or only appeared once, which TS baddies are the ones that intrigue you and keep you coming back to watch them?

In May, we’ll be reading Lady Ra’s The Wish for fic club.  You can find it here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/797188?hide_banner=true

Our topic this week is Sentinel and Guide.  Mostly fanon, this trope has expanded into a variety of forms such as GDP and proto-A/B/O, as well as percolated into many other fandoms.  What do you love about this trope?  Hate?  Things you wish writers would do with it?

This week our discussion topic is canon vs fanon.  Have questions about what is canon and what is not?  Or a favorite piece of fanon you’d like to share?  What are your headcanons about Jim and Blair’s backgrounds?

Our concrit session will be in two weeks, on April 9th. The prompt is “dialogue only” and pieces should be no more than 600 words.  They can be uploaded here by April 2: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1JTFYKDGnWCZtSOBvkmBwjx9ragTmJpgl

It’s fic discussion redux!  We got postponed last week, so this week, we’ll be discussing Jane Davitt’s Rag and Bone.  You can find it here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/78184

And don’t forget, for those of you in the US – Daylight Savings Time started last Sunday.  That means this week the chat is an hour later than you’re used to.

It’s time for an episode watch!  We’re up to Inside Man, which is not a fan favorite.  But we’re going to enjoy seeing the guys (even if Jim is acting stupid throughout) and we’re going to find at least one thing we like about this episode.

And looking ahead to next week, we’ll be reading and discussing Jane Davitt’s Rag and Bone for March fic club on the 12th. You can find it here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/78184

This week we’re going to talk about how gay relationships in fanfic have changed since TS was first aired.  Have you noticed any differences between fic that was written when the show was first airing as compared to fic written today?  Are there romantic tropes that have fallen out of favor?  Come by and tell us all about it!

Our WIP help session is on hold for one week, due to some technical difficulties, so we’ll have a discussion this week.  In honor of the Olympics and the Super Bowl this weekend, let’s talk about sports in TS.  We see the guys doing (or talking about) various sports in canon, and there are numerous fics that involve sports, both canon-based and AU.  Come with recs and links!

And next week we’ll look at Bluewolf’s WIP and see if we can help with anything.  You can find her story here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bQBZMsr050_WbF1EI7ZpZHWMqmV4DZ_p9IKiBRU49ek/edit. Any specific questions she had are at the end of the story.

It’s the beginning of the month, so we’re watching an episode.  This month it’s Poachers.  Come watch Jim cook spaghetti sauce and flirt with Tommy Woo.

Next week we’re going to try something new – we’re going to look at a WIP and see if we can help the writer get past any plot or other kinds of blocks.  Bluewolf was brave enough to volunteer for this, and you can find her story here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bQBZMsr050_WbF1EI7ZpZHWMqmV4DZ_p9IKiBRU49ek/edit. Any specific questions she had are at the end of the story.  This is a little more than we usually have for a concrit session, so I’m giving folks a whole week to read and prepare feedback.

Our topic this week: questions.  Got questions?  We’ll answer them!  Is Blair wearing Jim’s Cascade PD sweatshirt canon or fanon?  Is Jim’s mother’s name Grace or Mary Margaret?  What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever researched for a fic?  What’s the wildest thing you’ve ever done for fandom?
