I own 33 pairs of shoes, and I’m doing my best to minimize my “collection” and I’m also swearing off buying a new pair of shoes in 2020.

Today’s post is about my work shoes.

Being a character at work, while also needing to wear just a standard polo means I get to have a lot of fun with what color shoes I can wear. Being on the sidewalk means I’m either wearing a baby blue, navy blue, or grey polo, so I either coordinate by wearing blue shoes, or neutral colors. When I’m in my costume, it’s Navy/White, which usually has me wearing shoes with some kind of blue going with them.

The Reebok Zigs up at the top, I know it looks like I photographed the same pair twice, but Reebok was having a BOGO sale, so I just bought two identical pairs, one for now, and one for later. These shoes I’ve been wearing for like 3-4months now and they never look dirty for some reason. They’re wearing pretty well too, and don’t seem to suffer from my “big toe hole” that I typically burn through the soles of my shoes. I think I bought these for $40/ea.

Sticking with Reebok, the next two sneakers are their DMX and Trainers. I bought both of these during a 50% off sale, and the DMX (with the orange/salmon accents) have elastic laces, so they pop right on and right off. I really like the DMX’s, so I typically wear these in costume, whereas the trainers are typically worn on days I’m just chilling on the sidewalk or ticket booths. I’m almost done wearing through the trainers, they maybe have a month left on them so I’ll just wear them til they’re dead, then trash em. The DMX’s were $65 after discounts, and the trainers I think were only $30 after discounts.

The Grey New Balances were given to all of us for free as a promo from New Balance, and we thought it was kind of weird that they’d give us just normal plain grey shoes when our company is pretty fun. But then we realized, they’re neutral, so they work for anyone’s costume, and anyone’s polo color at any time. It also turns out they’re one of the high end models of New Balances, so they’re extra comfortable for our long days. Got them free, but valued at $170.

The Blue Vans are blue Vans. They go with my baby blue polo shirt when I’m either on sidewalk duty or driving around town, and the most important thing with them is the thinner Vans sole has a good pedal response to it, making driving more enjoyable. I think I snagged these on sale for somewhere around $40.

The Blue Converse, are blue Converse. They’re my alternate pair that I wear on sidewalk days as well. These I think I bought at DSW for $30. Knowing that my work shoes typically only are supposed to last for one season, I don’t go crazy spending money on them, but I “accidentally” buy too many of them, which is why I want to slowly work through them all before I need to buy some new kicks.

The last pair, The Custom Converse “ScottMilk?18″ are two pairs of sneakers where I wore one from each pair to work for the year of my wedding in 2018. The sneakers are custom colored in my wedding colors (pink, light blue, purple), as well as my uniform colors navy and white. I wore through the work pair until they were beyond dead, and I kept these pristine in my display case, which is where they’ll continue to live. Custom Chucks are super cool, but cost a little bit extra, at $75 a pair.

Shoes 15-22 of 33.
