I AM ALIVE!

I’m really sorry for the radio silence. Last year was more or less rough for me. I barely got anything creative done. Still figuring things out and stuff, but everything is already so much better than it was one year ago.

What comes to Swan Song, I haven’t worked on it for over half a year. I want to continue working on it as soon as possible. I’m never giving up on this project!

Also I’ve been spending less and less time on tumblr. I can already feel like this place is dying. (Like the new blue?!?! what were they thinking!). I’m not only one thinking this, right? So yeah, I might abandon this ship sooner or later. I wanna continue making devblogs, but probably somewhere else. I’ve been keeping an eye on pillowfort.io, but it’s still in closed beta. We’ll see.

In mean while I’ve been a bit more active on twitterandinstagram, so if you wanna see more of my stuff, those two are the best bet.

I’ve been taking a long break, but getting back to work. I’ve realized I work better if I don’t keep posting updates all the time. You know, once you post something wip, it feels like you’ve already completed it yada yada.

I’ve been mainly working on graphics. Found a good pipeline that works for me, and I’ve almost finished all the maps (All bases are done, just need to a dd details) And character graphics too. After I’ve finished the graphics, I can focus on everything else!

I’d like to get the demo out by the end of this year, but I don’t wanna promise anything. I’ll keep working hard.

Oh, and we hit 1000 followers. I’m speechless. Seriously. Thank you so much for your support, and I’m really sorry I haven’t been able to deliver anything new sooner. ;___; But I can’t wait to get this prologue chapter out!

It’s been a while. I haven’t been feeling well, still don’t, but at least I got back working on gaems.

Again, i spent too much tome pondering and researching if I still should change engine to Unity or Game Maker. I had to slap myself in the face, and say “fuck it” and just make the game, and not worry about what would be the “best” or “optimal” way to make it.

And thanks to that in one week I made more progress than I’ve made in half a year or so.

I finished all character portraits and most of the sprites (minus animation). I’ve decided to change the graphics style to pixel art for multiple reasons. I’m still figuring things out with the perspective, but I’m going to stick with more “side-scroller” style. I figured out what way to present conversations. 

These screenshots are obviously still wip, only the portraits are final.

I’ve programmed most of the dialogues now, so most  of the work now lies with making the backgrounds, which should be a bit faster now. I’m kinda sad to throw away all the previous backgrounds I did (I had almost 12 linearts done), but they were too time consuming and the perspectives were hard to work with.

I also should start thinking about the final name for the game. I really like “Swan Song” and I’ve become really attached to it, but it is too common.

This is why when you’re naming your projects (or characters), don’t give temporary names. They will end being final names :’D

Just small update to show what’s up.

I’ve been busy working on one another project for school, but I’ve managed to do some progress on personal projects too. Like I finally decided on the character sprite style!

I’ve redone them way too many times, but now these I’m gonna stick with. Now I can testing collisions and building the maps in engine.

Map are doing well. All prologue maps are designed, majority sketches or even lined. And I’m happily avoiding doing the coloring. I shall leave it last…

Due to college starting up again, I’ll be on hiatus for a while. Feel free to send your asks, and I’ll get to them when I return.

If I have time I may write a caption or two.

Hi everybody!

I hope everybody enjoyed our April Fools joke on Friday (Escher Gulls).  It wasn’t the most creative idea (since I did Escher Gills way back for EG’s 2nd April Fools) but given everything that’s happened recently with the pandemic and other depressing world events, I figured a light hearted joke might be nice to do for this year.  I hope people had fun at least. :3

Anyway, it’s a new month so I wanted to thank all our March 2022 subscribers for all your incredible support!

Your support helps us keep the site up and independently hosted, allows us to make technical fixes and improvements to the site, and means that no matter what happens with our cross-posts to Tumblr due to Tumblr’s policy changes (such as the huge list of terms being banned on the iOS app), the site will continue to exist here on EscherGirls.com!  We’ve had some old posts flagged by Tumblr as having adult content even though they don’t and while I’ve appealed, at least with the dedicated site there will always be an archive of those posts for people to see, regardless of what Tumblr decides.

Having our own site also allows us to make Escher Girls more accessible with things like image captions for the visually impaired (something that Tumblr has in its beta features, but those features also interfere with other things like Twitter auto-posting if they’re turned on and screws up some formatting issues).  So, I’m very grateful for everybody that helps us keep the site going without needing to worry about what Tumblr does or allows us to do. <3 

Patreon subscribers also get previews and updates of future content we’re working on or get asked to give feedback to test new site features before they’re released!  For example, subscribers got a preview of Escher Gulls before the joke went live and could comment on it.

2.As of now, I am not deactivating yet, but leaving this mess of a blog as an archive, but if I find a way to archive the blog while also deleting completely, I will. (But this will take a while since I have no time to look into that before like… November.)

3.I’m not really active on any other social media, and I don’t think I will. I need to take a break of it all.

4. Since I won’t be deleting physically before November, I think till then I might log in once in a fortnight probably on Fridays, to answer private messages, if I have any. But if you have my WhatsApp - please text me there instead. I really do not want to log in.

5. I’m too tired to do this rn but eventually I’ll unfollow every blog I’m following, bc A. even if I don’t deactivate this blog, I am no longer gonna use it B. so when I do my weekly log-in to answer things, I don’t get angry lol.

6.I suggest you all unfollow this blog as well, since like I’ve said, I am no longer gonna blog on here.

7.I am not planning on remaking/creating a new blog or coming back. But I cannot predict the future.

I got several new photos for the people that reblogged the Slut Pride logo the other day.  My husband will be uploading them to my laptop this evening and then I will submit them to your blog.

The Sluts Unite web site states:

I haven’t posted anything in a very long time but apparently there are still people just now discovering this blog.
I won’t delete it, but I won’t post anything new either for the time being. I still come online every couple days or so and I read all your messages.
My mom and I are still going strong and the sex keeps getting better. Recently we went to Bulgaria and we had an amazing time there.

So thanks for everything, I might post an update every once in a while.

Hi, yes we know we haven’t been that active lately and we’ll try to fix that. Wanted to keep this short so that’s pretty much it. Feel free to send asks, message us on kik and stuff.

But anyways hey it’s been a while since I made any real post over here, this isn’t a comfirm that I’ll be back posting updates on a regular just thought I should slide in a bit of the things I’ve been doing. If you follow me on twitter you already saw all of this stuff, it’s just the same thing but tumblr version ey

So far I’ve just been trying to catch up in graphics since I’m still very behind. Like eventing stuff is away ahead of the graphics I have to make which means there’s nothing graphic wise I can show aka no new areas or things to post. (which is one reason I’ve been fully dead.) Though most of my time has been towards redoing areas and other graphics since pixel art skills changed a bit and the maps in the demo are old (also a lot of dull shading…making stuff look dull)

Since I mention eventing, I’ve been going back to fix up old events just so the gap with events and graphics don’t get way too big leading me to get very overwhelm with all the art I have to do.
(because….it’s a lot of art….)

So I just been cleaning up events to make them easier to understand or just easier for future me. As well as I’ve been fixing how certain event systems work, for a example the dialogue!

Now when characters are talking, you will see two portraits if two characters are talking. Like this style a lot more since if Chris is like angry and it slides back to Vladimir, you can still see the angry Chris staring at him. (Idk think it’s neat for showing a character has a expression still on their face than swapping back and forth with the art not letting a expression hold as another person is talking…also I just like how it looks…..)

Besides the dialogue getting a makeover the menu screen has been getting special treatment as well. Originally I was going to event a menu though gave up since I was still very new at eventing menus and other stuff so I just sided with using the default menu screen rpg maker gave you but just slap scripts on it.

But now I went back to my original plan since I know how to use events….well I think I do…but what I’m saying is that now I feel confident that I can event the menu I wanted to event in the beginning. You can see the wip menu over here weeeeeeee

It’s a huge prototype still so all art and stuff is very rough, mostly since I’m just making sure it works. (making polish art and slapping it to a thing which isn’t done….isn’t smart…just a waste of graphics and time if you scrap the idea when you start coding it in and learn it doesn’t work) So far all the submenus work as they should I just need to fix the inventory which is a hot mess which is why I didn’t show it….because it’s very broken.
Maybe when I sand out all the problems I’ll show it off.
(Oh also I was testing something out hints the kazoo kid muffin sprite.)

But that’s been most of the stuff i’ve been working on, not all…since there are a few more stuff I’ve been fixing event wise but that’s just making stuff neater or a mini feature which I don’t want to show off yet… hopefully the next time I update won’t be like a year later….
