I haven’t seen killing eve since the last season aired but the thing that still swirls around my mind is the dancing scene:
When Villanelle gestured towards an old dancing couple and asked Eve if she wanted to be like that, I didn’t think she meant the two of them, necessarily, just generally growing old with someone, or dancing like that. And I don’t think Villanelle meant if Eve wanted that with her, specifically, either, just curious to know what Eve wants.
So when Eve’s immediate answer automatically includes Villanelle, the softest of smiles on Villanelle’s face is so timid and heartbreaking to me, because Eve has chosen her and sees them together without even thinking. When Eve has always been pulling away or denying their bond and her nature, and Villanelle has always been the one chasing, upfront with her adoration of Eve, here Eve is, letting it slip - so casually - that she sees the old couple dancing as the two of them. And Villanelle is so happy.
The whole closeness of the dance and conversation, how they’re able to communicate at a deeper level than we’ve ever seen them without even looking at each other, the understanding they’ve reached here that follows later in the bridge finale - thisis my favourite scene. Not the kiss, not the bridge, not the tension, the jealousy, the meaningful looks, as much as they’re enjoyable. Just the two of them, dancing without pretenses. Like their whole relationship, a bit fumbling at first, not knowing who leads and who follows, and then settling into their own rhythm. Understanding without being told. Knowing without seeing.
They deserve so much better❤️
