“Driver Burrows, formerly of Newton Heath, Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway” This locomotive was originally Oranje-Vrijstaat Gouwerment-Spoorwegen (OVGS) Nr. 94. After the Boer War, it became CSAR Nr. 370 and again South African Railways class 6E Nr. 600. She was built by Sharp Stewart. The builder’s plate is visible under the number plate, while all the other Class 6 were on the wheel spashers en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_African_Class_6E_4-6-0

The Northrop A-17 was one of the last of the single engine Attack planes, with a total of 411 built. It first flew in 1935 however, by 1938 the Air Corps dropped single engine attack planes in favor of twin engine models. The, “A”, and later models, had retractable landing gear.

RAF 19 Squadron Spitfire (P7420) being refueled during the Battle of Britain, 1940. The thick bullet resistance glass attached to the outside of the windshield was a modification which was added during the Battle Britain. One pilot’s story–As soon as he parked, after a mission, a mechanic hopped up on the plane and attached one to his windshield. The very next mission it stopped a bullet.
