Update on Trolled(2018) (shocking climactic scene above): it is, beat for beat, the exact same movie as Wee Dragons (also 2018), by the same director.
I’m not exaggerating, they just changed it from dragons to trolls and added 20 minutes of runtime with some vague allusions to internet trolls.
Trolled is also MUCH more poorly animated, and appears to have had all of its background assets stolen from Wee Dragons.There are a couple of reused models from Wee Dragons, but instead of stealing a dragon from Wee Dragons, they made their own horrible new dragon model. This has answered two of my Trolled mysteries, namely “Who’d they steal these backgrounds from?” and “Why does the guy keep saying he’s from ‘the kingdom of the Wee Trolls’ as if this movie is called The Wee Trolls?”
(I’mnot watching all of Wee Dragons to confirm every change, but after a quick check, the equivalent of the magical climax of Trolled is a slightly more animated sequence of King Foul spinning around and shrinking into a mouse. The mouse model is reused in Trolled for a different character.)
