→ Takuya is no stranger to the camera, but familiarity does not equal fondness.  His days spent swimming professionally were littered with them and the annoying little people behind them pointing their lenses in his face after every meet and even more so after “the incident”. If you asked him he’d say he had his fair share of them and if he didn’t have to see another lense his life would be complete, and yet here he was sitting right in front of one. ’ Hello, My name is Takuya Terada" The words roll off of his tongue as if he rehearsed them and he can’t help but notice how cheesy he sounds. “ I was born in Japan but raised in Houston, Texas, which explains my height’ he pauses ‘You know what they say -all things are bigger in Texas- or some corny shi- uh, thing like that”  the laugh that follow is empty and awkward as he tries to diffuse the situation. ’ If I look familiar it’s probably because you’ve seen me on tv before, or if you’re from Brooklyn probably in your local paper. I don’t really like to talk about that point in my life - I’m already 22 years old and i’m more focused on where i’m going rather than where I’ve been “.

→ It takes him a second to answer the question because in all honesty - he doesn’t know what he wants out of life any more. His childhood was spent training and fighting everyday to be the best that now , when he finally has a moment to himself . To be himself. He feels more lost that ever. ’ You know I use to have everything laid out for me,  after taking a step away from the whole competitive swimming scene I’m taking a moment to really focus on me and what makes me happy"
