I use #HospitalGlam to reassert my sovreignty over my body prior to meeting with medical professionals. Medical offices are designed for patient use, but we are transient in them. In the course of chronic illness, it is sometimes difficult not to extend this transience to our own bodies. Occupying sites of pain and/or trauma moves us to develop coping mechanisms for long term survival. In appointments, I need to be present and recognize that I have more experience with my body than anyone else. This enables me to advocate for myself and work with my doctors towards the best care in my reach.
