No country is perfect, and all of them have dark chapters they’d rather forget. Everyone is allowed to do whatever they want on Canada Day, and that freedom to express ourselves any way we wish is exactly what makes this country one of the best.

We are free to celebrate or mourn on Canada Day if we want to, because people made the highest sacrifice so that we could have that choice. Rather than point fingers, spread hate, and encourage division… we should instead come together and try to build a brighter future for all Canadians.

That’s what I believe July 1st is supposed to be about; a celebration of not just Canada’s accomplishments but the greatness that is yet to come. That is what I will choose to do on Thursday as I look forward to better days and years to come on Canada Day.
