Re-reading DH I find this part of teenage Albus letter to Gellert especially heartbreaking. He’s just so young and naive - he knows that Gellert did some terrible things at Durmstrang, and is clearly aware that he’d been expelled. Still, he’s so blinded by his love that he expresses this very matter-of-factly with an exclamation mark, as to convince himself it’s not really a big deal. It can’t be a big deal, because as he points out lastly, the most important thing of all is that they have met each other.
