Many think these digital “aesthetic collages” look witchy/cool, but when they’re done in a way that removes artist credits, copyrights & attributions, they are harmful (+ inconsiderate, and often violate copyright) to the artists’ as it creates more copies of their work that get reblogged & shared without credit. Some even then credit *themselves* as the “source” of others’ work ~ I’ve had this happen several times. Adding a “cool” quote to reblogged photo/s does not make one the source for that image. This also prevents the chances artists have at being contacted for future collaborations, commissions, publications, etc… I had the above photo published in the book ”Ode to Color” by Lori Weitzner, thanks to the author & publisher (Harper Design) who found it *with* proper credits attached, but when unattributed, these do not help artists, but rather hurt them via missed opportunities. If you like something enough to share, like it enough to take a moment to source the actual creator of the work and give the artists some well-earned credit too.
I’ve known artists/photographers who couldn’t pay studio rent while their (uncredited) photos were getting 100,000’s of likes/reblogs. Please don’t feed into that by reblogging work with cropped/omitted credits unless you can link it back to the original source (& for goodness sake, don’t crop off artists’ watermarks and/or tag it as your own). <3
