This is my one true and tested method to proper bouncy and well holding and brushing pin curls. I have quite straight and not very thick hair and it gives nice body to my curls and achieves a really beautiful volume that keeps nicely. 

The amount of water is something like half a cup and to that about one tablespoon of flaxseeds - boil few minutes to get a slippery gel like stuff and strain before use. 

Comb each strand with the gel before doing your curl and pinning it to place. Normally I let my set dry over night, so I can’t really say how it behaves when dried otherwise. Do try this though!
