This is my new William Gillette collection, put together over about 6 months time by haunting various corners of the Internet. In order: WG autograph, found from a NY authors estate; complete 1930 press photograph of WG as Sherlock Holmes from his last round of performances, confirmed by 1916 film archivist as the only fully intact one she’s seen; 1901 photo postcard in mint condition; complete edition of British theatre 1901 “Players of the Day” with an original color 8 x 10 process print of William Gillette plus bio; 1899 Collier’s Weekly complete with first press review of Gillette’s play; Gillette cigar box label; Philadelphia lady’s theatre scrapbook 1899-1903 with several Gillette plays including “Sherlock Holmes”; Ogden’s cigarette card, 1901.
