Mystery Train, Jim Jarmusch’s 4th feature film, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on 14 May 1989. It premiered in the US at the New York Film Festival on 27 September 1989.
The film received critical acclaim (and was nominated for 6 Independent Spirit awards), but failed to find an audience at the box office, where it only earned $1.5 million.
