2hoothoots:

(Panel one. Dogen and Raz are standing in front of a large circular metal door.) RAZ: Here it is. The vault door. There are four layers of security on this bad boy. (Panel two. Raz leans in, inspecting an element on the door.) RAZ: Layer one is a simple retinal scanner. Should be easy enough to spoof with an illusion. (Panel three shows a blueprint of a lock.) RAZ, offscreen: Layer two is a twelve-pin tumbler lock combined with an electronic verification. Trickier to break, but not impossible. (Panel four. Raz strokes his chin. In the background are patterns reminiscent of the Collective Unconscious.) RAZ: Now, layer three is where things get interesting. There's a caesium-atom clock in there, linked directly to a pacemaker on the owner's heart. (Panels five and six. Raz continues talking, gesturing animatedly. His words are obscured, and fade away as Dogen zones out. In the final panel, Dogen raises his arm, surrounded by a red aura.)
(Panel One. At the top, the metal of the vault door starts to strain. Dogen extends his hand, brows drawn in a serious expression.) SFX: Creeeeak, grrrumble (Panel two. The vault door explodes in a cloud of smoke and a crackle of psychic energy.) SFX: BOOM (Panel three. Raz and Dogen are silhouetted against the now-destroyed doorframe. Raz looks surprised and slightly ruffled. Dogen is wearing his usual placid expression.) (Panel four. Raz straightens up with a grin, and looks to Dogen, who smiles.) RAZ: Or that works, too. Good job!

when all you’ve got is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. but when you’ve got a combination swiss army knife/multitool/sonic screwdriver, it’s easy to forget that some problems can be solved just by using a really big hammer
