#a lot of headcanon going into this

dorminchu:

sIt appears I have made an error; with consideration of Madeleine’s doctorate, ability to prescribe medication and Bond describing her as a consultant (very briefly in SPECTRE), Madeleine would be a psychiatrist, notapsychologist. The qualifications for each appear to be different. For now, I’m going off of information from this site.

(Additionally, I think she would be considered to be attending university, not college.) Sounds like a lot of hassle, but I think I can retcon this while staying within the range of her knowledge. She’ll have the same MSF storyline, same family issues. And she’ll have to be instructed in psychology anyway. Maybe she wants to lie low and work as a psychotherapist, being paranoid of her family ties. Why waste time making friends in college, when she could just study? (Maybe her achievements will make her dad proud; sadly, this didn’t pan out, but the diploma looks nice on his office wall! Not that she visits.)

Edit: Seems like the switch should be mostly seamless. I might even throw in a bit of characterization (for instance, maybe Arnaud feels outmatched/intimidated by Madeleine because he’s a psychologist and has a lower salary, we’ll see!

Revision of Ch01 underway. I might bump up Madeleine’s starting age to 25 (fresh out of med school!) to compesate for her time in university. Also might have others, such as Arnaud give her a playful ribbing/hard time for working in Paris instead of in a rural area, where her skills (Arnaud’s saying this) might be more appreciated.

Madeleine thinks, this is why she volunteers so much, and is never at home. She makes a lot more than he does, blah blah. Very passive aggressive. You might even call her… Fragile. ;) That’s our first Death Stranding joke in this fic. It may not be the last.

In later chapters (03, 04) Safin might bring up the same point as Arnaud, because of who and what she is (trust-fund trying to make herself feel better about herself by volunteering, guilty about her blood-money/privilege, etc). I think Madeleine won’t be pleased.

But, I digress; it seems like she’d be in the midst of residency training in Chapter 1 (early 2013). By the time SPECTRE (the movie, which is in 2015) rolls around she would be in fellowship training at 29? I know she’s in a criminal organization and money isn’t an issue but would the time put into her career be affected? That’s what I’m wondering right now. Is it possible that strings were pulled to get her where she is earlier than is the norm? Tentative source is in this pdf.
