The front and back covers of Fizzbin: History & Rules, a 16-page zine made in 1976 by Martin Jokl. The ambitious pamphlet tries to make a playable game from from the rules laid forth by Captain James T. Kirk in “A Piece of the Action,” and it’s the kind of thing about vintage fandom that I just love. What would now be a Twitter thread or Tumblr post or at most a web page was something that Jokl typed up himself, hand-printed and stapled, then sold at conventions and through the mail.
