#about the second time i typed sweater it lost all meaning

every time im learning a language and my brain tries to throw a fit about how words are thrown together to make a new word and it’s really awkward to learn it, i just remind myself of ‘sweater’

i mean really. look at this word. american english speakers are like “yeah :) cozy long sleeved top :) sometimes holiday themed :) give it as a nice gift :) let others borrow it :)” but it’s literally…. sweat. Er. a SWEATER. It’s sweat! It’s a thing that makes you sweat! Sweater!!! How am i supposed to have positive connotations about the word SWEATER

and big rip to those learning british english and dealing with 'jumper’ because at least a sweater will make you sweat, what does your sleeve length have to do with jumping
