“Alec, you’re the best person for this.” A photo of Magnus’ smiling face stares back at him. Alec recognizes the picture from last years’ art exhibit. Magnus had modeled for Clary, and she gushed about Magnus’ perfect bone structure and body until Alec, in a fit of jealousy that she got to see Magnus shirtless first, got up and left the dinner table. Not his proudest moment. ”Isabelle and Jace say you know Mr. Bane and how enamored you ar—”
“ Mom ,” Alec interrupts with rising horror and embarrassment. “I don’t know him. We have an American Sign Language class together.”
Maryse’s smile widens, and Alec immediately realizes his mistake. He quickly rectifies it before his mother can get more excited about their not subtle matchmaking attempt. Honestly, it’s unprofessional, and if his boss wasn’t his mother, Alec would… um, report this egregious misconduct. Or something.
