To Be Loved By You Ch. 1

Summary: She was the Queen of Westeros. He was her most loyal soldier. A shadow lover who kept her safe from those who would rather see her dead. The death of her husband came as a shock but she didn’t have the heart to mourn the loss of a loveless marriage. Not when her shadow lover had given her something much more precious. Now it was her turn to keep her loved ones safe.

A/N: I had to spilt this story up into four parts because it was getting long (there are currently 48 A6 pages - and if you’ve seen my handwriting, you know how small it is and how many words I can fit on a page). So here’s part 1.

I have many people to thank for a lot of different reasons. If I start listing ye, we’d be here all day so I’ll just message you all privately but even then I don’t think it would be enough.

But particularly to JW, Erika and Tara… Thanks for reminding me to take breaks and time to rest when you’ve seen me get overly anxious or worked up practically every day over the past two months or so. It hasn’t been a good time irl for different reasons but you three have been a constant support when I started spiralling. I may not always have the words to express my thanks but I hope this is a good enough alternative

To BH; what can I say, for so long you’ve been my reason to get up every morning. You’ve dealt with so many things over the years and I’ve rarely seen you not having a smile on your face. Thank you for everything you’ve given me; I’ll never deserve you

There were shouts of panic and anger as she was rushed out of the palace through a hidden tunnel beneath the grounds. The leather gloves were cool under her hand as she was guided past the stalagmites and pools of water. They reached an exit, her protector moving first to ensure that it was clear before he turned to her and lifted her through the narrow gap. Two horses - a black stallion and a silver mare - were waiting for them, hooves hitting the dirt beneath them. It was then she finally spoke; her mind racing as they hear more explosions coming from the palace.

“Jon, where are we going?” she questioned, turning to the musketeer as he shoved a bush back over the hole they’d just escaped from. “Who sent those soldiers?”

“Robb, Grey and Gendry will find out. But we need to get you out of here.” Leading her over to the horses, he helped her onto the mare before he moved to the stallion. “Stay close and do not look back.”

Daenerys nodded, tightening the hooded cloak he’d clasped around her throat the moment he’d entered her room that evening It hid away her silver hair as they rode away from the palace out of the city and into the countryside.

By the time the sky had reached complete darkness, they had reached a quiet monastery. There weren’t many monks or nuns around as they unmounted the horses before she was led inside, Jon’s hand never leaving the small of her back as the abbess led them further inside the largest building. Thanking her profusely, Jon locked the door behind the nun before he turned back to face her. It was then that Daenerys noticed that Jon’s forehead had a small gash, running from just above his right eyebrow and down along the side to the top of his cheekbone.  For someone so young, he had seen more than enough. Yet, he kept coming back. Kept throwing himself into danger. All to keep her safe.
