WNDB is especially thrilled to congratulate Michaela Goade, who became the first BIPOC woman to win the Caldecott Medal with her win for the picture book We Are Water Protectors. Goade, a Tlingit artist, is also the first Indigenous person to receive the Caldecott. We Are Water Protectors was written by Carole Lindstrom (Turtle Mountain Band of Ojibwe).
