I know I’ve mentioned it before but one of my favorite things about Alan Davis’ art is that you can tell that Nightcrawler is a gymnast by the way he stands

Of all the UK heroes, my favorite is the Daily Mirror comic strip hero done by Frank Bellamy, Garth, Man of Mystery, also known as Garth the Strong, because he’s a hero with a beautiful kind of simplicity to the concept. There is absolutely zero overthinking, mythology building, or complexities.

What’s his power? Oh, he’s really, really strong. That’s it.

What’s his costume? Well…he doesn’t really have one, he likes regular pants, t-shirts, and goes shirtless a lot, I guess.

(Alan Davis art.)

Okay, what’s his background? Does he have dead parents, or a desire for revenge on some villain? At least initially, no. He was an amnesiac with no special, particular motivation to oppose injustice. He used his strength to fight evil because fuckevil.
