SSI Asset Limit Adjustments

SSI asset limits in 1974 were $1500 for an individual and $2500 for couples. In 2021 that equals $8244.52 for an individual and $13740.87 for couples. Today, the limit is $2,000 for an individual and $3,000 for couples. That’s $272.91 and $454.85 respectively in 1974. This is why so many disabled people live in poverty.

#i believe the same amounts are true for medi-cal #they dont count your house or car #or certain types of savings accounts for ssi #but still #and to avoid confusion #there are no asset limits for ssdi #only wageearnings limits #also covid at-home kits #are supposed to be free for medicare recipients this spring #this will benefit elderly people and ssdi recipients #i hope this helps someone
