kuroo messed up. 

he knew he did when he pulled away from her and saw your hurt filled eyes and trembling hands — he never meant to hurt you; in fact, he wanted the opposite. he wanted to apologize for blowing up at you, to beg you to take him back. but of course, she had to ruin it.

when kuroo called you and asked you to meet him at the gym, you allowed yourself to hope for the first time since the fight that killed your relationship and left you both in pieces — you genuinely couldn’t think of anything you wanted more than to make up with him, to be able to call him yours once more.

you arrived at the gym with a small smile on your face, slightly growing as your hear his muffled voice. you’re about to call his name when you suddenly hear her voice, the voice of the one person you hated. you stop dead in your tracks and watch as she drags him outside and and pulls him in for a kiss.

your eyes widen as you turn on your heels and bolt out of there.

god, you think, how could i be such an idiot.

you run as fast as your feet can take you, wiping the rain drops- or maybe they were tears- from your eyes.

you feel a hand wrap around your wrist urging you to stop.

“i didn’t mean for this to happen.” kuroo tried to explain, “she ambushed me!”

“kuroo, let go.” you say, your voice cold.

“no — not until you listen.” he says, a slight tremor in his voice as he tugs on your arm to get you to turn around.

“i said let go kuroo.” you repeat, the rain hiding the hurt in your voice.

“y/n, please” he pleads, his voice cracking.

you turn around and yank your arm out of his grip.

you wipe the tears from your eyes and scoff, “what, kuroo? what more could you possibly want?”

he grabs your hand once more and pulls you closer. your resolve breaks and you lean into his touch, tears streaming down your face.

he tilts your head upwards and wipes the tears from your eyes as he wraps an arm around your waist, with your faces mere inches apart.

“you.” he whispers and pulls you in for a kiss.
