LIVE

 Emily Dickinson was born in 1830 in Amherst, Massachusetts and is regarded as one of the most important American poets.  At the end of her life, Emily spent most of her days at home living mainly as a recluse.  When she died at the age of 55 in 1886, she left behind 1,800 poems.

 "Hope is the thing with feathers

That perches in the soul,

And sings the tune without the words,

And never stops at all,

 And sweetest in the gale is heard;

And sore must be the storm

 That could abash the little bird

That kept so many warm.

 I’ve heard it in the chilliest land,

And on the strangest sea;

Yet, never, in extremity,

 It asked a crumb of me.“
