Liam always does fantastic character work within grief and sadness, and I am fascinated to see what he does with Orym, whose story is not defined by his pain. His husband is dead, and the circumstances surrounding that have led him to the Hells, but in many ways he has already grieved. That pain, while still present (will always be there, it doesn’t leave) is not all consuming. Instead, Orym has been set up to be a character rooted in hope, in remembering and still moving forwards, in friendship and connection. I think the deliberateness of starting him at this point in his journey is both beautiful and a really interesting thematic contrast to both Vax and Caleb.

the tagline for buddie I think is “they were insane for this”

You know, typically in a horror movie when a family with kids moves into an old creaky manor they’re always going either fight the axe-murdered ghost in it for dominance or try to escape, but just once I’d like to see what it would be like if the family just decided “fuck it, we’re subletting from a ghost now”

Like, it’s always fight or flight for these people, but when you think about it isn’t it the same for the ghost? These ghosts are people who’ve been through a traumatic experience and could use love and compassion. Most of them have lost their families, come from abusive backgrounds and could really benefit from a warm, stable environment. It doesn’t have to be one-sided either; since poltergeists can’t leave their house they’d probably make reliable babysitters and could pitch in with the chores

And the best part: you are going to have the best halloween parties on the goddamn block for centuries to come

… May I direct you towards a little known number called Beetlejuice?
