Also, “approaches its crescendo” is just a very weird way to talk about war? I guess it’s some non-human character talking, but still. “Crescendo” makes me think of music and more like… a great finale, a really exciting part or something like this. It does NOT fit in with a horrible, bloody, desperate war approaching either the most bloody/terrible/desperate point or the end where it’s unsure which side comes out victorious.
