#anyway im in debt to my landlord

LIVE

millennial-review:

In the last year, my rent has literally doubled. My unit is the oldest and the shittiest and the least-updated in the whole complex, which is why it was cheap. When I moved in, rent was $675.

And now it’s $1200, without electricity and WSG. Nothing about the unit has changed, it’s still missing all of the screens it was missing when I moved in. The bathroom sink still leaks, despite the maintenance requests I’ve put in.

I know the economy’s changing or whatever, but you can’t tell me this isn’t predatory. Every single time the building gets sold rent goes up.

This isn’t even something we can avoid or boycott. If the prices of fabric softener or Taco Bell go up, we can choose not to buy them to show that’s not okay.

We can’t choose not to live somewhere.
