May 24th - Free Day

Today was our first free day since arriving in Tokyo. I slept in for the first time since coming here, which felt so good. All of my roommates left early in the morning, so I had the apartment to myself to do laundry and start my morning. I went downstairs briefly to have breakfast with Alex, another student on the trip, and then headed to Shibuya.

While there, I window shopped through the expensive stores and got coffee at a Tully’s, which I think is a chain here. At 2, I met my friend Naoki, who was an exchange student at UF last year. We went to his university, Aoyama Gakuin. Compared to Musashi, it was much larger. We got lunch at the university and I met a few of his friends, and then we walked through Harajuku and Shibuya. I headed back to where we were staying and tried shabu-shabu for dinner. This is a style of food where the meat is cooked on the table in hot broth. It reminded me a little of Korean barbeque if it were soup.

After this I am planning to go out with some friends to do Karaoke, but we have another early start tomorrow so I am going to try not to stay out too late.
