“The myths of my people say only a true bride of the Sea God can bring an end to his insatiable wrath. When the otherworldly storms rise from the East Sea, lightning breaking the sky and waters ripping up the shore, a bride is chosen and given to the Sea God.
Or sacrificed, depending on the measure of your faith.”

- ‘The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea’, Axie Oh

This beautiful book published on Tuesday! Inspired by The Tale of Shim Cheong, this story follows an original new character, Mina, who takes the place of the sacrificial bride to save her brother and his beloved, Shim Cheong, who was to be sacrificed. [Full synopsis here]

I love retellings, especially ones with a twist! I’d actually not heard of this folktale until this book started buzzing around my radar so I’m extra intrigued! The design is stunning too (the spine is even more colourful in person!)

I actually pre-ordered this one before hearing about the preorder campaign and I felt lucky to have made it into one of the international spots! The Mina sticker is so cute and I stuck it onto my new sketchbook (GIRL fanart coming?), and that art print (last slide) is stunning! Both by califlair

Things now feel more surreal than ever. I hope you all take care
