These are the mothers of your “meat"—marked with spray paint to indicate their usefulness as baby machines is over. I encountered them on their way to their thankless deaths in a town called—perversely enough—"Liberty”

Pigs are highly intelligent and incredibly social, ranking with primates in their level of social cognition. Mothers can recognize their piglets by sound alone, and sing to their babies while nursing—referred to in studies as “nursing vocalization.”-

But despite their scientifically recognized array of complex emotions, piglets are separated from their mother within days or weeks of their birth—the sooner her babies are taken, the faster she can “re-enter production.”-

Pigs literally go crazy from the stress of their confinement and treatment, often exhibiting neurotic behaviors like bar-biting—or, in this video, compulsively licking the floor of the truck. This may also be driven by thirst or hunger

Learn more about the mothers of the meat industry in the video linked in my bio today. Afterwards go to http://www.BiteSizeVegan.org/MotherPigs

Note: The link jumps to a specific time in my speech in Dublin, but the practices apply worldwide-
