The funniest thing about the Barbie: Nutcracker movie is how much the subjects don’t care that the Prince is (probably) dead. Like this guy was such a useless asshat that his father gave a highly suspect mouse his magical wand over him, and even small children knew he was 0 help in stopping the hostile takeover. 

Not only is it hilarious, but also implies that while he didhave a (single) friend in Captain Candy, the Prince was very irresponsible and went through a major character arc before ever meeting Clara, probably due to being turned into well, a wooden utensil.
