She started her Bollywood career opposite Aamir Khan in Kiran Rao’s Dhobi Ghat in 2011. 

Despite that, singer-actress Monica Dogra hasn’t really been flooded with offers yet. But she now returns in Shaitan- director Bejoy Nambiar’s second film, gangster thriller David. 

Though she wasn’t seen in any film after her acclaimed performance as a foreign-returned photographer in Dhobi Ghat, the past two years, Monica said, have been her “busiest and craziest”. 

After the release of Dhobi Ghat, Monica spent time as a vagabond, hosting two seasons of musical show, The Dewarists. 

In between, she also managed to cut three music albums. 

“I wasn’t out of action after Dhobi Ghat. The Dewarists was the experience of a lifetime, which helped me become a better actor.

"Travelling to different places, listening to different kinds of music and learning about different kinds of human conditions elevated my experiences, which helped me evolve as an actress,” Monica said. 

In David, she plays an outspoken Muslim girl, Noor, the love interest of gangster David played by Neil Nitin Mukesh. 

Her portion, set in 1975, is shot in black and white. David is a film that narrates the stories of three people with the same name.
